I need to let you know about some important things about your web site, Google and SSL Certificates.

Firstly, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the internet’s standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server (sites you visit) and a browser (your computer). This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

Now when it comes to technology, which we know moves fast, some of your web site visitors who (even you may have – well you should have!) have upgraded to the latest web browsers might be seeing a warning when visiting your web site. This could cause embarrassment and inconvenience; your site visitor will be wary of continuing on because they think your web site is not secure. Not only that, but your web site rankings could also suffer; lowering your web site down the order of search results, even off the front page!

Since 1st February 2017 (and actually a couple of months before that), Google has been warning us all about changes to their browser Chrome and their search algorithms, other browsers like Firefox and Safari are affected too, requiring our web sites to be secured.

You know that little padlock in the URL/Address bar, when you visit ecommerce style sites, like eBay, or your bank?

Well, they, Google want you to have one on your web site now too, whether or not you are conducting monetary transactions.

If you are one of our customers who is transacting dollars or capturing sensitive private information via your web site, you will already have implemented an appropriate ecommerce SSL Certificate which can handle these transactions, so you can ignore this for yourself, but make sure you pass it onto a friend or colleague who is unaware of this.

However, if you do not have an SSL Certificate on your web site, now is the time to contact me to organise one for you.

In the meantime, don’t just take my word for it; I encourage you to have a quick read about this topic here, or you can do your own search on Google, yes that’s ironic, right?

Once you feel informed enough, please get in touch me with me and we’ll organise to sort this out for you. It’s quick, affordable and you personally don’t need to do anything.
